https://www.icde.org/icde-news/2020/openpraxiscallforedition

Open Praxis has reached seven years (2013-2019) of regular publication since it was relaunched as the ICDE scholarly, peer-reviewed and open access journal, hosted by the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) with Dr. Inés Gil-Jaurena as editor. She is supported by an international and highly qualified Editorial Board selected by ICDE’s Executive Committee.

ICDE’s contract for editorial services with UNED is ending in December 2020, and ICDE therefore calls for member institutions to apply for hosting and edition of Open Praxis for 2021 and 2022. The period may be extended.

ICDE invites applications from ICDE member institutions to serve for a two-year term. The editor should be an employee at the member institution who can work part time with the journal. The candidate needs to be supported by the leadership of his institution.

Recommended profile for the editor and/or editorial team

  • - Able to use OJS (Open Journal System), the software currently used for journal edition

  • - Commitment with open access and innovation in online journals

  • - Experience/background in open, distance and flexible education

  • - Experience/background in publishing/editorial work

  • - Adhere to the COPE Ethical guidelines as described in “Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors” at https://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines

  • - Given the workload, it is highly recommended that the proposal presents an editorial team with one chief editor and some assistants

Application process

The application should be written in english, not exceed 1500 words and include the following:

  • - The vision for Open Praxis and personal motivations of the candidate editor

  • - A brief action plan for the two years, in relation to the vision

The application should include the following attachments:

  • - Profile and skills of the candidate editor

  • - CV and publication list of all members of the editorial team

  • - Letter of support from the Head of the Institution which needs to be an ICDE member institution

The deadline for applications is 30 June. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a virtual meeting to present their project for the journal’s edition. The successful candidate will be selected by the ICDE Secretariat, and subsequently appointed by the ICDE Executive Committee.

The selected candidate would be invited to work closely with the current editor for a transition period from september to december 2020 and be officially appointed in January 2021.
